JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

 

POSITION:                            ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN

CLOSING DATE:                5 p.m., July 7, 2008

SALARY RANGE:               $35,974-$44,244

JOB SUMMARY

Performs accounting support functions contributing to the collection, maintenance and reporting of timely and accurate financial and accounting information.  This position specializes in accounts receivable, accounts payable, billings, collections, evictions.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·        Knowledge of established manual and automated accounting systems.

·        Ability to solve routine technical accounting problems.

·        Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the organization.

·        Ability to interpret and comply with established accounting policies and procedures.

·        Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.  Excellent telephone skills.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Associates Degree with emphasis in accounting and general business curriculum.

·        Minimum of two years accounting experience which may include accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and quarterly reports.

·        Criminal records check is required.

·        Valid Washington State vehicle operator’s license and acceptable driving record (BHA standards).

HOUSING CLERK POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION:                            HOUSING CLERK                          HOURLY, NON-EXEMPT

SALARY RANGE:               $32,623 - $40,123 plus benefits

 

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

This position provides a broad range of administrative support functions contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Bellingham and Whatcom County Housing Authorities low-income rental housing division of the Operations Department.  This position researches and obtains income, employment and other verifications required to approve prospecting residents for occupancy of approximately 600 units of multifamily housing owned by the Bellingham and Whatcom County Housing Authorities. The Housing Clerk works cooperatively with and supports the efforts of the Operation’s Leasing Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.         Correct usage of English composition, spelling, punctuation, and mathematics.

2.         Works effectively and cooperatively with a wide range of people, using courtesy, compassion and tact.

3.         Maintains confidentiality.

4.         Interprets and applies program information in making work decisions and in providing information to others.

5.         Works effectively with frequent interruptions.

6.         Analyzes needs of the client and family and recommends support services.

7.         Communicates with clients with limited written and oral English skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

·        Two years experience in residential rental property management or social services environment with administrative support and/or bookkeeping experience.

·        High School Diploma or GED.

·        Criminal records check is required.

·        Must posses a valid driver's license and be able to attain a valid Washington State driver’s license within six months of employment.  Must have and maintain a driving record that meets the minimum standards as established by the Housing Authority insurance provider.
